The relationship of the temporomandibular joint with orthodontics has been one of the most controversial issues from past to present. It continues to be the subject of many literature by changing its shape until today. The researchers began to examine the possible iatrogenic effects of orthodontic treatments on the temporomandibular joint in more detail especially towards the end of the 1980s and tried to make sense of the relationship and effect of orthodontic treatment with condyle growth. While functional orthopedic treatment or fixed orthodontic treatment performed in patients whose growth and development period continues or ends, may provide the patient with a stomatognathic system and a chewing function that can operate in a different direction, thereby causing effects on the temporomandibular joint.
