Objective: This study was carried out to determine the effects of different light transmission shade nets on quality of Fuji apple fruit.
Material and Methods: In this study, shading cloths with 10% and 20% shading were used. The control plants were kept with open sky.
Results: The lowest average fruit weight was obtained from trees growing under 20% shading net. While there was no significant difference in average fruit flesh firmness among applications, the soluble solids content was higher in the fruits of trees grown in 10% shade. The best fruit-skin color was obtained from control trees. The most significant result of this research is that shading materials have positive effect on decreasing of sunburned fruit ratio. It has been found that the sunburn ratio, which was around 30% in the fruit of the control trees, decreased to 2% in the trees grown under 20% shading net.
Conclusion: 20% shading can be suggested for Fuji apple variety in Denizli province conditions.
