Abstract

The main objective is to investigate whether the foreign trade conducted among the member countries of the Turkic States Organization, of which Turkey became a founding member in 2009, has contributed to Turkey's economic growth. Granger and Toda-Yamamoto causality tests were employed to examine the relationship between the foreign trade intensity index representing the trade among the member states and Turkey's economic growth rate. The findings reveal a positive relationship from the foreign trade intensity indices of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan toward Turkey's economic growth rate, while relationship wasn’t found between the foreign trade intensity indices of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan and Turkey's economic growth rate. This indicates that Turkey's trade with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan positively affects its economic growth, whereas its trade with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan doesn’t have such an impact. It can be concluded that the intensification of trade between Turkey and the member states of the organization has a positive effect on Turkey's economy.

TÜRKİYE’NİN TÜRK DEVLETLERİ TEŞKİLATINA ÜYELİĞİ EKONOMİK BÜYÜMESİNE ETKİ EDER Mİ?
