Veteriner Hekimlikte Homeopatik Viscum Album Kullanımı: Kansere Farklı Bir Bakış

Öz

Homeopati, Alman Doktor Samuel Hahnemann tarafından geliştirilmiş, bütüncül bir tedavi şeklidir. Yunanca “homois” yani benzer ve “pathos” yani hastalık kelimelerinden türemiş olan homeopati, benzer ile benzeri iyileştirme prensibine dayanır. Dünya Sağlık Örgütü’nün verilerine göre Dünya’da en sık kullanılan tamamlayıcı tıp tedavi yöntemidir. Veteriner hekimliğinde homeopatik tedaviler 18. yüzyıldan beri kullanılmaktadır. Ülkemizde ise, son 10 yıldır beşeri hekimlikteki uygulama artışına paralel olarak veteriner hekimliğinde de yer bulmaya başlamıştır. Homeopatik ilaçlar (remediler) doğadaki mineraller, bitkiler, hayvansal ekskretler vb maddelerden elde edilirler. Viscum album (ökse otu) da bu şekilde elde edilmiş remedilerden biridir. Viscum album ekstresinin kanser hastalarında kullanımı üzerine pek çok çalışma yayınlanmıştır. Homeopatik viscum albumun da veteriner hekimliğinde karşılaşılan kanser türleri üzerine etkinliği, yapılan in vitro ve in vivo çalışmalar ile bildirilmektedir. Bu derlemenin amacı homeopatik viscum albumun, veteriner hekimliğinde karşılaşılan kanser türlerinde kullanımı ve etkinliğini incelemek, bu tür kanserlerde kullanılan klasik tedavi yöntemlerine alternatif bir bakış açısı sunmaktır.

Use of Homeopathic Viscum Album in Veterinary Medicine: A Different Perspective on Cancer

Homeopathy is a holistic form of treatment developed by the German doctor Samuel Hahnemann. Derived from the Greek words “homois”, meaning similar and “pathos”, meaning disease, homeopathy is based on the principle of healing like with like. According to the World Health Organization, it is the most commonly used complementary medicine treatment method in the world. Homeopathic treatments have been used in veterinary medicine since the 18th century. In our country, it has started to find a place in veterinary medicine in parallel with the increase in treatment in human medicine in last 10 years. Homeopathic medicines (remedies) are obtained from minerals, plants, animal excretes etc. from nature. Viscum album (mistletoe) is one of the remedy obtained in this way. Many studies have been published on the use of Viscum album extract in cancer patients. The efficacy of homeopathic viscum album on cancer types encountered in veterinary medicine has been reported by in vitro and in vivo studies. The aim of this review is to examine the use and efficacy of homeopathic viscum album in cancer types encountered in veterinary medicine and to provide an alternative perspective to the classical treatment methods used in such cancers.
