Preliminary Examination
The articles uploaded to DergiPark for publication in bitig Journal of Faculty of Letters are first checked by the editor for compliance with the rules presented within the framework of the publication policy. Studies that do not comply with the journal's publication rules, purpose and scope and/or originality policy may be returned to the author or the study may be rejected. Studies that have been confirmed as appropriate are forwarded to the field editor for a detailed review.
Field Editor
Studies carrying out the conditions in the preliminary examination are transferred to the field editor. The field editor examines the article similarity report, the signed copyright transfer form and, if any, the ethics committee report within the scope of the journal's rules. For the appropriate studies, the field editor appoints two referees from the board and from outside the board, according to the field of academic expertise. Referee invitation is sent through the DergiPark system. Referees can accept or decline the invitation. If a negative response is received from the invited referees, a new referee is appointed. The field editor is responsible for forwarding the submitted papers to the referee by hiding personal information. It also submits the "Referee Evaluation Form" along with the full article text.
Referee Stage
Depending on the DergiPark system, the referees must accept the refereeing invitation within seven days. The referees who accept the invitation should evaluate the submitted work within fifteen days. If the referees exceeding this period request additional time, they are given additional time. The reviewers complete the review process without knowing the identity of the authors with the blind peer-review system. It submits correction suggestions within the framework of the "Referee Evaluation Form" and uploads these suggestions to the DergiPark system. If one of the two referees decides that “It cannot be published,’’ the work is sent to a third referee. If it is positive depending on the report of the third referee, the study is accepted for publication; if a negative report is submitted, the study will be rejected. The referee is obliged to make his decision within the framework of the "Referee Evaluation Form".
Proofreader Transactions
Studies that successfully complete the evaluation process are sent to the language editor. The language editor checks the English abstracts of the study, then the spelling editor acts as the final reader after checking the study for compliance with the journal's spelling and language rules. At this stage, the entire work, including the "References" section, is reviewed for the last time and sent to the editor in the format of bitig Journal Faculty of Letters. In this way, the work is uploaded to the system and published.
Book Reviews
bitig Journal of Faculty of Letters includes book reviews in the fields of Archeology, Modern Turkish Dialects and Literatures, Philosophy, English Translation and Interpreting, English Language and Literature, Psychology, Art History, Sociology, History, Turkish Language and Literature. In the related studies, the general description of the books is examined. In such studies, the critical approach of the author is evaluated. These works should not exceed five pages.
Reviews are examined by the field editor without the blind peer-review system. If necessary, corrections can be requested from the author. In these studies, the editor-in-chief makes the final decision regarding the publication of the paper.
