Evaluation Process
Preliminary Evaluation
Original articles, translations and book reviews can be submitted to Çağ Journal of History and Culture.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are first subjected to preliminary evaluation by the editors. Manuscripts that do not fall within the scope of the journal's publication and do not comply with the academic writing format in terms of content and stylistic conditions are rejected without starting the refereeing process or some changes may be requested. The result of the editorial review is notified to the author. No article can be accepted for publication by the editors without a positive referee report.
Translations of articles published in peer-reviewed academic journals in different languages are checked by the language editors of the journal and published if the translation is deemed appropriate for the scope of the journal.
Plagiarism Scan
Plagiarism is a violation of publication ethics that has recently become quite common in academic circles. In order to combat plagiarism and to act in accordance with publication ethics, all articles, book reviews and translations submitted to Çağ Tarih- Kültür Journal are subjected to plagiarism scanning through plagiarism detection software. The software used for this purpose is iThenticate Plagiarism Detection Program. If the similarity rate of the scanned manuscript is above 15% in the scanning to be performed with the program, the article is rejected by the Editorial Board without going through the referee process. The plagiarism report of the rejected manuscript is also shared with the author. The rejected manuscript will not be re-evaluated in any way. Research articles are accepted to the referee process; translations and book reviews are reviewed by the editorial board.
Reviewers may accept or reject the manuscript or ask the authors to make corrections to the format and/or content. In order for an article to be accepted for publication, at least two referees must give a positive opinion. If one of the referee reports is positive and the other is negative, the manuscript is sent to a third referee.
If the referee or referees request corrections, the author shall complete the requested corrections within 15 days at the latest, taking into account the criticisms and suggestions made by the referees, and resubmit the article. Referees may request corrections more than once for the same article.
Articles that are not approved for publication by two referees are not accepted for publication and the manuscripts that are not accepted for publication are returned to the authors.
Referee reports are kept by the journal editorial office for 5 years.
Authors may object to the negative opinions of the referees and the changes and corrections they request, provided that they provide evidence. This objection is reviewed by the Editorial Board and, if deemed necessary, a different reviewer's opinion is sought.
Authors are obliged to take into account the opinions and suggestions of the referees and the Editorial Board in order for their work to be published.
The referees evaluate the manuscripts in terms of originality, methodology, contribution to the literature, presentation of findings and support of results, and utilization of previous studies.
The final evaluation is made by the Editorial Board for all articles that have been approved by the referees and reached the publication stage. Articles deemed "publishable" by the Editorial Board are placed in the publication queue and published in the next issue. The full text of the paper in Turkish is available at https://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/translations/turkish-translation.
