Abstract
The works presenting the ordered list of shaykhs rewarding each other with a diploma and the masters of a profession continuing the same job and the persons coming from the same family and the sultans succeeding the throne successively are called genealogy. There are a great number of genealogies in our libraries of manuscript either in poetic or prose style. Great majority of these works consist of the ordered lists of religious order head shaykhs. One of the works giving the genealogy of religious order shaykhs is the poetic work called Silsilenâme (Genealogy) by Kuloğlu shaykh Hajji Ilyas. Kuloğlu is a Sûfî estimated to have lived in Gallipoli and nearby vicinity in 17 th century. More than 27500 couplets of the poet, who has six works in total, have been revealed through academic studies. In his Silsilenâme, Kuloğlu shaykh Hajji Ilyas mentioned the names of 34 Khalwatî Ushshâkî shaykhs. He mentioned the names of 34 sheiks genealogy poetically starting from Hasan Basrî until his time, whom he thought to be the spiritual religious order leaders. In this study, information about the life of Kuloğlu shaykh Hajji Ilyas, his personality and works has been given. Setting forth the transcripted text of his poetic work Silsilenâme (Genealogy), which makes the subject of the study, the language, form and content of the work have been investigated.
