Publication requirements

·         1. Submission of articles to the Aegean Journal of Geography should be done by following the article upload processes of the journal at https://dergipark.org.tr/tr/pub/ecd.

2. The author(s) must complete the Article Information Form, ECD Author Contribution Declaration Form and ECD Conflict of Interest Form in the submission files.
3. The author(s) should specify their institution and contact information, ORCID numbers, and also in the Dergipark system.
4. The Copyright Form must be signed by all authors.
5. Ethics Committee Documents must be uploaded to the system. In cases where the ethics committee document is not required, it is sufficient to upload a file related to it by the responsible author.
6. In studies that require ethics committee permission, information about the permission (name of the committee, date and number) should be included in the method section and also on the first/last page of the article. Articles should include a statement about compliance with Research and Publication Ethics.
7. Authors must strictly comply with the ethical rules of the journal in their articles. It is accepted that the authors have read these ethical rules and articles that do not comply with these rules are sent back.
8. It is necessary to comply with the copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used.
9. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or sent elsewhere for simultaneous publication.
10. In the preparation of the manuscripts, the writing rules of the journal should be followed. Articles that do not comply with the spelling rules are sent back.
11. If the submitted manuscript has multiple authors, the correspondence is sent to the corresponding author, unless otherwise stated. It is the responsibility of this author to inform other authors about the publication stages.
12. If the corresponding author changes before the article is published (a co-author becomes the lead author), information confirming that both authors have accepted the change should be forwarded to the journal editor.
13. Due to the use of a double-blind peer-review system in the journal, there should be absolutely no expression in the text indicating the identities of the authors. Any explanations, footnotes and acknowledgments that will reveal the identity of the author(s) should be stated in the Article Information Form.
14. If the article was produced from a master's or doctoral thesis, this information should be shared in the Article Information Form. The information that the article was produced from a graduate thesis must be given as a footnote on the first page of the article after the article is accepted for publication.
15. In the Aegean Journal of Geography, in the articles based on the postgraduate thesis, it is adopted that the student is specified as the first author.
16. If it is determined that the results of a completed research have been divided into parts in such a way as to disrupt the integrity of the research, the application for publication is terminated.


GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTICLE LAYOUT
1. Aegean Journal of Geography uses APA 6 in its bibliography.
2. Submitted articles should be uploaded as Word files and written in Times New Roman font, 12 points, single spacing, single column.
3. Manuscripts should not exceed 25 A4 pages, including all figures, tables and photographs, except in very special cases.
4. In the main text of the article, as a requirement of the blind peer-review process, there should be absolutely no expression indicating the identities of the author(s).
5. If there are explanations, footnotes and acknowledgments that will reveal the identity of the author(s), these should be sent in the article information form.
6. It should also be noted that there is no author information in the "Author" and "last modified" fields in the File menu of the Word document.
7. The following order should be followed in the preparation of the text.

ARTICLE TITLE

The title of the article should be short and informative.
It should tell the reader exactly what the article is about.
Your title should help make your article more discoverable. That's why it's so important to include your most relevant keywords in your title.
The Turkish title will be written in bold and only the first letters of all words will be capitalized.
Example: The Effect of the University on the Population Structure of the City: The Example of Gümüşhane

English Article Title
The English title should be in italics+bold and the first letters of all words should be capitalized.
Example: The Impact of the University on the Population Structure of the City: The Case of Gümüşhane City


ABSTRACT
The abstract is that other researchers will quickly get an idea of your article; where he can decide to read it and cite it or look elsewhere instead.

That's why it's extremely important to write a summary that will win readers over.
Your abstract should contain content that readers will find answers to these 3 questions.
• What is your research about?
• Which methods were used?
• What are your findings?
The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
At the end, there should be five (5) keywords..

Abstract
• Abstract should be prepared in English and should not exceed 300 words. It should include the purpose, method and findings of the study.
• At the end of the abstract, there should be five (5) keywords reflecting the integrity of the study.

Suggestions for Keywords
Keywords will help others find your article quickly and accurately.
You can think of them as tags for your article. There is a strong correlation between online hits and subsequent citations for journal articles.
Therefore, it is important to identify effective keywords for your work.

Main Text
All first-level headings (eg Introduction, Conclusion) should be numbered, including the Introduction; should be written in bold and capital letters.
Example: (1. INTRODUCTION 2. PURPOSE AND METHOD)
Second-level headings should be numbered within each chapter, using the chapter number; Except for the first word of the title and all proper nouns, it should be written in bold with lower case letters.
Example: 2.1. Izmir population according to permanent residence data
Third-level headings should be italicized and bold, and only proper nouns should begin with a capital letter.
Example: 2.1.1. Migration in Izmir according to permanent residence data
Third-level titles are used for fourth-level titles.
5. In-text emphases (bold, underline, italic etc.) are left to the discretion of the authors.
6. Mathematical expressions, equations should be numbered, equations should be left-justified and equation numbers should be right-justified in parentheses.

Figures and Tables
All drawings, maps, graphics in the text are “figures”,
Photos “photo”
Tables are called "tables".
Numbering in tables, figures and photographs is done as follows. Example: Figure 2- Table 5-
All table captions should be at the top of the table, and figure and photograph captions should be below them.
The titles of all figures, tables and photographs should be as short as possible and the English version should be written in italics immediately after the Turkish title.
The size of the texts used in the content of all the figures in the article should be determined and readable, considering that the figures will shrink when necessary.

In-Text Citations
Aegean Journal of Geography uses APA 6 for citation and bibliography.
Citations in the text should consist of the sources given in the References section.
In the references given in the text, the surname of the author and the year of publication are given in parentheses. (Kayan, 1998). The page number is not specified.
In the citations in the text, the works with two authors are cited as follows (Işık & Erkin, 2021)
References to studies with three or more authors are based on the surname of the first author: (Kayan et al., 1999)
If more than one publication of the same author from the same year is used in the text, it is stated as follows: (Clark, 1999a, 1999b).

Editing References at the end of the text
APA 6 should be used in bibliography editing.
All sources used should be placed under the heading "References" at the end of the text, and should be given alphabetically according to the surnames of the authors without numbering.
In the references section, only the works cited in the text should be included.
All authors in publications with multiple authors are listed in the References section.
References by the same author should be given in chronological order.
Apart from these general principles, the examples given below should be followed in the preparation of references.

Articles in periodicals (JOURNALS)
• In articles, the name of the article should be written in lower case, except for proper names.
• Journal names should be written in italics and only the initials should be capitalized.
• The volume number of the journal should be italicized, but the issue number should be plain in parentheses.
• If DOI information is available, it should be added to the end of the bibliography. In the bibliography, the doi information should be underlined and linked.
• If DOI information is available, it should be added to the end of the bibliography.
