Abstract
Currently, the generation is classified as the silent generation, baby boom, X, Y, Z and alpha generation. The most defining feature of generation Z, which represents those born in 2000 and later, is their interaction with technological devices, with the Internet at their center. The educational process of Generation Z, who live a life intertwined with technology, is also changing in a way that parallels this situation. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected approximately 92% of the student population (1,576,021,818 students) worldwide. For this reason, it is important to determine the perceptions of distance education of students who are acquainted with distance education for the first time. This study was conducted using the qualitative research method and was carried out with the phenomenology pattern. The research group determined by purposeful sampling was composed of 10 students representing the Z generation. The data collection tool prepared by the researcher was used in the semi-structured interviews with the students. The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis and the findings were formed. In the findings obtained within the scope of the study, it was concluded that the students drew attention to many different issues including course, interaction, opportunity inequality, student role, teacher role and technical problems. Another result obtained from this study showed that these students, who are closely related to technology, find distance education courses inefficient and have more negative judgments about this technology-based educational process.
