Urbanization is a process without end and limit. It shows itself with variability at global-local levels. The urbanization process also changes the city's awareness and symbols. Parallel to the change of the city, the image of the city in minds also changes. Changing city affects the way individuals perceive space. The image of the city contains the processes of sensation, perception and cognition in the interaction between human and space and is formed in the mind by the experience of the environment. In this study, Elazig urban image components were examined. In the study, the elements displaying imaginative features were analyzed using the artificial environment identity components revealed in the conceptual and theoretical approach. Elements that show the characteristics of an urban image were evaluated in the urbanization process. Interviews with city residents were evaluated within the scope of the items that Lynch (1960) specified in order to be able to read the urban space with artificial environmental elements. As a result of these evaluations, 38% of the perceptions about the place are composed of districts, 20% paths, 18.2% landmarks, 17.5% nodes and 5.2% edges.
