In May 2019, a masonry retaining wall in the Gül Neighborhood in the historical urban site of the Mardin’s Artuklu district was collapsed due to excessive rainfall. Architectural traces of an old building, hidden behind the wall, were unearthed thanks to the demolishment of this wall, aligned of the road to the northwest of the old government mansion. Many remarkable and unfounded comments have been made about the ruin in order to enlight its original structure. The article aimes to prove this ruins’ original structure in the light of the archival documents. According to the findings, the area in front of the wall and the ruins behind the wall belong to Sheikh Muhammad Farisi Zawiyah, which is composed of a small masjid, tomb and fountain iwan. The significant information was gained about the characteristics, waqf information and service people of this monument, which is not known when and why it was demolished. The masjid of the zawiyah, whose initial construction date information was not available, was actively used by the officers of the government building in the nineteenth century. The building continued to serve as the official mosque of the government mansion until the Republican era.
