Abstract
Value; It can be defined as behaviors that are accepted as true and beautiful by the society in general. It is possible to define the efforts made for the transfer of values as values education. Raising citizens who are beneficial, responsible and aware of their values is among the basic duties of educational institutions In today's world where individualization, self-centered mindset and negative situations such as drug addiction and wars are becoming more common, the importance of values and education of values has increased even more. Also, “teaching social studies as citizenship transfer”, which is one of the three basic approaches in teaching this course, aims to convey the values and beliefs of the society to students. Different methods are used in the tranfers of values. One of these approaches is the use of heroes that have been an example to the society with their lives and experiences in this process. Therefore, the use of historical figures and his works in the education of values will contribute to the acquisition of values. This research was prepared in order to examine Mehmet Akif and Safahat in terms of values education in social studies lesson. The research was designed in a case study pattern in accordance with the qualitative research method. The data source of the research is Mehmet Akif Ersoy's work named Safahat. Document analysis method was used for data collection, and descriptive analysis was preferred for data analysis. As a result of analyzing the data, the values in Safahat was presented under nine fish and was exemplified by direct quotations. These topics are: Justice, responsibility, scientificness, aesthetics, patriotism, diligence, solidarity, family unity, sensitivity and helpfulness. According to the research results, Akif's Safahat is a very rich resource in terms of values education and it will be useful to use it within the scope of social studies lesson.
