A Review on Social Trust Levels of Theology Faculty Students

Abstract

The concept of
trust which has occupied an important place in the social capital literature in
recent years is accepted as an important factor in social relations and social
integrity. Individuals’ social trust level has sort of characteristics reflecting
the trust level in society. Factors such as how individuals trust each other,
whether they are sincere in their favours or not and their social belonging
level help to determine individuals’ social trust level. With such questions,
it was tried to determine the social trust level and it was preferred to investigate
young individuals who are considered the future of society and are also considered
the middle generation in the social sense. The research data are based on the
results of a questionnaire which was applied to 850 freshman and senior
students in Ankara, Ataturk, Dicle and Dokuz Eylul Theology Faculties, who were
selected via the purposeful sampling method. According to the findings of the
research; it was determined that although the social trust level of theology
faculty students was higher than the average of Turkey, it was below the
desired social trust level in the society.

İlahiyat Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Sosyal Güven Düzeyleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract

Son dönemlerde sosyal sermaye yazınında önemli bir yer işgal eden güven
kavramı, toplumsal ilişkiler ve toplumsal bütünlükte önemli bir unsur olarak
kabul görmektedir. Bireylerin sosyal güven düzeyleri bir bakıma toplumda
bulunan güven düzeyini yansıtan bir özelliğe sahiptir. Bireylerin birbirlerini
ne kadar güvenilir buldukları, insanların yaptıkları iyilikte samimi olup
olmadıkları, bireylerin toplumsal aidiyet duygusu düzeyi gibi faktörler,
bireylerin sosyal güven düzeyini belirlemeye yardımcı olur. Bu gibi sorular ile
sosyal güven düzeyi belirlenmeye çalışılırken toplumun geleceği sayılan ve
toplumsal anlamda orta kuşak sayılan genç bireyler üzerine araştırma yapılması
tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma verileri, amaçlı
örneklem yoluyla seçilen Ankara, Atatürk, Dicle ve Dokuz Eylül İlahiyat
Fakültelerinde birinci ve son sınıfta okuyan toplam 850 öğrenciye uygulanan
anket sonuçlarına dayanmaktadır. Araştırmanın
bulgularına göre İlahiyat Fakültesi öğrencilerinin sosyal güven düzeyi Türkiye
ortalamasının üzerinde olmasına rağmen bu düzeyin bir toplumda istenilen sosyal
güven düzeyinden daha aşağı bir seviyede olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
