Amaç: Bu çalışmada,
öz-bilinç ve
olumlu gelecek beklentileri kavramları ele alınmış ve öz-bilincin bireylerin
geleceğe dair beklentilerindeki rolünü ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır.
Yöntem: Bireylerin öz-bilinç düzeylerinin
geleceğe ilişkin olumlu beklentileri üzerindeki etkisinin incelendiği çalışma
yükseköğretim öğrencilerinden toplanan veriler üzerinden irdelenmiştir (N=280).
Öz-bilinç kavramı genel, özel ve sosyal anksiyete boyutlarıyla geleceğe ilişkin
olumlu beklentiler kavramı ise olumlu gelecek yönelimi, sağlık-yaşam kalitesi,
meslek-kariyer beklentileri ve kişisel başarı-yeterlilik boyutlarıyla
ölçülmüştür.
Bulgular ve Sonuç: Yapılan çoklu
regresyon analizleri geleceğe ilişkin beklentilerin tüm boyutlarında özel
öz-bilincin olumlu ve anlamlı etkisi olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca sonuçlar
öğrencilerin geleceğe ilişkin olumlu beklentilerin de (M=4,25) öz-bilinç
düzeylerinin de (M=4,40) ortalamanın biraz üstünde olduğunu göstermektedir.

Aim: In this study,
self-consciousness and positive future expectations concepts were examined. It
is aimed to determine the impact of perceived self-consciousness on individuals’
positive future expectations.
Method: A
quantitative research design was adopted in order to investigate the impact of
individuals’ perceived self-consciousness on their positive future expectations.
The required data for the research objective was obtained through questionnaire
method and the sample of the research was consist of 280 graduate level
students in a university (N=280). The concept of self-consciousness was
measured with the dimensions of general-consciousness, private-consciousness,
and social anxiety, whereas positive future expectation concept was measured
with the dimension of positive future orientation, health-life quality,
occupation-career expectations, and personal success-efficacy.
Findings and Conclusion: The multiple regression analysis reported that private-consciousness
had significant and positive impact on all dimensions of positive future
expectations of students (F=28.79, p<0.01). Even though the explanatory
level is relatively low (R2=0.09), the findings showed that the
impact of private self-consciousness on positive future expectations is
positive. Further, the findings revealed that the positive future expectation
levels (M=4.25) and self-consciousness perceptions (4.40) of the students had
relatively high scores.
