Online First Policy

What is Online First?

Online First is a system that enables articles accepted for publication and ready for print in the Medya ve Din Araştırmaları Dergisi (MEDİAD)- Journal of Media and Religion Studies to be published digitally before being assigned to a specific issue. Through this system, selected articles, once they have completed the peer review and editing processes, are rapidly made available to the academic community. Articles are assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to ensure a permanent identity.

Benefits of Online First

• Early Access: Academics, researchers, and interested parties can follow the latest studies at an early stage and benefit from research findings in a timely manner.
• Citation Convenience: Since articles are assigned DOI numbers, they can receive citations quickly and contribute to academic impact without waiting for the full publication process.
• Accelerated Publication Process: Articles are published without waiting for the traditional print process, allowing them to be discussed in academic circles sooner.

Citing Online First Articles

When citing articles published under Online First, the following format should be used:

APA 7 Format: Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). Article title. Medya ve Din Araştırmaları Dergisi (MEDİAD) Advance online publication. https://doi.org/xxxx

Once articles are assigned to a specific issue, they can be cited with volume, issue, and page numbers. However, the DOI remains unchanged, ensuring citation consistency.

Modifications to Online First Articles

Articles published under Online First remain identical to their final printed versions. Only volume, issue, and page numbers will be added. However, if a significant error is detected, the journal's article correction policy will be applied.

Once articles are assigned to a specific issue and receive volume, issue, and page numbers, they are removed from the Online First section and included in the respective issue. Readers can access the article via the journal’s main archive page.

Citation Impact and Indexing

Online First articles can receive citations as soon as they are published. These citations are considered in the calculation of citation indexes and impact factors for the corresponding year.

Through this policy, MEDİAD is committed to ensuring faster access to up-to-date and valuable information for the academic community.
