PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT AS A WHOLE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: AN EXPLORATORY RESEARCH

Abstract

Purpose - The aim of this paper is to define
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Systems as a whole product focused
management tool by featuring its importance for the enterprise integration
management, product development and lean value systems.

Methodology - The paper is designed as an
exploratory study consists of several interviews with
senior managers of ELTAŞ
Transformer Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. about the process management capabilities of
PLM systems within a case study. 

Findings- The study reveals that non-technical processes like
human resources can be managed using PLM methodology as well as the technical
processes like product development. The results show the similarities of
technical and non-technical processes, and show the possibility of managing
even less technical processes to create a holistic business management tool.

Conclusion- The study shows the importance of the PLM systems for the
product-focused management while the digital transformation of the production
companies and their enterprise integration management and lean value systems.

The issuing months are March, June, September and December. The publication languages of the Journal are English and Turkish. RJBM aims to provide a research source for all practitioners, policy makers, professionals and researchers working in all related areas of business, management and organizations. The editor in chief of RJBM invites all manuscripts that cover theoretical and/or applied researches on topics related to the interest areas of the Journal. RJBM publishes academic research studies only. RJBM charges no submission or publication fee.

Ethics Policy - RJBM applies the standards of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). RJBM is committed to the academic community ensuring ethics and quality of manuscripts in publications. Plagiarism is strictly forbidden and the manuscripts found to be plagiarized will not be accepted or if published will be removed from the publication. Authors must certify that their manuscripts are their original work. Plagiarism, duplicate, data fabrication and redundant publications are forbidden. The manuscripts are subject to plagiarism check by iThenticate or similar. All manuscript submissions must provide a similarity report (up to 15% excluding quotes, bibliography, abstract, method).
