Professor Belgaid is the principal researcher and lecturer (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-4232-9408) (https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Mohamed-Belgaid)).
Mohamed Belgaid is a professor of nuclear physics (since 2004) in the Radiation Physics department at the Physics Faculty of USTHB, Algiers, Algeria. He is currently the director of the Nuclear Sciences and Radiation-Matter Interactions Laboratory at the USTHB Physics Faculty. Prof. Belgaid obtained a master's degree in 1991 and a PhD in 1998 in nuclear physics.
He is mainly interested in the theoretical and experimental study of nuclear reactions through the determination of emitted particle energy spectra, double differential cross sections, angular distributions and integrated cross sections. The theoretical models of nuclear reactions used are the evaporation model, the pre-equilibrium model and the optical model.
In recent years, he has been interested in the application of nuclear reactions induced by thermal, epithermal and fast neutrons, mainly the capture of epithermal and thermal neutrons by boron-10 for the treatment of cancers (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy BNCT).
During his career as a teacher-researcher, he has given second and third cycle courses and supervised several master's, magister and doctoral students. He has participated in many national and international projects such as:
1. Applications of fast neutrons in various investigative fields (PNR)
2. Interaction of fast neutrons with matter (CNEPRU)
He has also participated in and organized several international conferences. He was also member of scientific committees of several international conferences and reviewer in several internationally recognized journals. To date, he has published 36 articles in internationally recognized high-level journals. Prof. Belgaid's academic and scientific skills are of internationally recognized level.
