“Merak bilgiden ortaya çıkıyorsa; farklı bilgi türleri farklı merakların ortaya çıkmasına sebep olur mu?” sorusundan hareketle planlanan bu çalışmada kendine özgü bir bilgi yapısı olan tarih disiplinine yönelik meraka odaklanılmış ve AİBÜ Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Tarih Bölümü öğrencilerinin tarihe dair merak ettikleri konularla bu konuları merak etme gerekçeleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmada bu incelemelerden hareketle tarih merakına dair yürütülmekte olan gömülü teori sürecine katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır. Gömülü teori sürecinin bir parçası olan bu araştırmada öğretmen adaylarının görüşleri 5N1K tekniğinden esinlenerek hazırlanan form yardımıyla alınmıştır. Bu form ile tarih öğrencilerinin tarihsel “kişi, olay, zaman ve mekâna” dair merakları ve bu meraklarının gerekçelerini açığa çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma 2015- 2016 eğitim öğretim güz yarıyılında AİBÜ Tarih Bölümü’nde 1, 2, 3 ve 4. sınıfta okumakta olan yaklaşık 187 öğrencinin görüşleri alınarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tarih öğrencilerinin “tarihi kişi, olay, zaman ve mekâna” dair merakları betimsel analiz yoluyla çözümlenmiştir. Bu meraklarına dair gerekçeleri de içerik analizi yoluyla analiz edilerek tarih merakının farklı boyutlarına ilişkin çeşitli çıkarımlar sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın sonucunda bu çıkarımlardan hareketle tarih merakına dair bir sınıflandırma yapılmaya çalışılmıştır.

An INVESTIGATION of HISTORICAL CURIOSITY: HISTORY STUDENTS’ CURIOSITY ABOUT HISTORY in the FACULTY of ARTS and SCIENCES (AIBU)
Abstract: The current study, based on the question “May different knowledge forms generate different curiosities if curiosity stems from knowledge?”, focused on the curiosity about the discipline of history with a unique knowledge structure and examined the history topics that history students were curious about, along with students’ motives for being curious about these topics. Various inferences on the curiosity about history were aimed at, based on the mentioned examinations. In the research, designed as a grounded theory, history students’ views were collected via a form prepared through inspiration from 5Ws and 1H technique. This form aimed to reveal history students’ curiosity about historical persons, events, time, and places and the motives for their curiosity. The study was conducted through views of 215 history students who attended 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years at the Department of History, Abant Izzet Baysal University, in the fall of 2015-2016 academic years. History students’ curiosity about historical persons, events, time, and places was descriptively analyzed. Their motives for curiosity were content-analyzed to present various inferences on different dimensions of curiosity about history. Based on these inferences, a classification of curiosity about history was included at the end of the current study.
