Bu çalışmada, küt burun farebalığı Coelorinchus caelorhincus (Risso, 1810) türünün pre-anal boyu (PAL) ve otolit biyometrisi arasındaki ilişkiler incelenmiştir. Balık örnekleri, Temmuz 2016 – Haziran 2017 tarihleri arasında “R/V Akdeniz Araştırma 1” gemisi ile Antalya Körfezi’nde yapılan aylık trol çekimleri sırasında yakalanmıştır. Değerlendirilen 232’si dişi 152’si erkek toplam 384 bireyde PAL = 18–73 mm ve total ağırlık (W) = 0,6–72 g aralığında dağılım göstermiştir. PAL–W ilişkisi cinsiyetler arasında farklılık göstermeyip bütün balıklar "W = 0,208 × " 〖"PAL" 〗^"2,937" " (" "r" ^"2" "= 0,94)" olarak bulunmuştur. Üstel katsayı “b” için oluşturulan %95 güvenirlik aralığı (2,863–3,011), varsayımsal 3 değerini kapsadığından C. caelorhincus türünün bu habitatta izometrik büyüme gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Otolit boyu (OL), otolit genişliği (OB) ve otolit ağırlığı (OW) sırasıyla; 3,717–11,353 mm, 2,717–6,606 mm ve 0,008–0,0186 g arasında değişmiştir. Sağ ve sol OL, OB ve OW ortalamaları arasındaki farklılıklar eşlenik t-testine göre istatistiksel açıdan önemsiz bulunduğundan, PAL ve otolit biyometrisi arasındaki ilişkilerin incelenmesinde yalnızca sağ otolitlerin ölçümleri kullanılmıştır. OL–PAL arasındaki doğrusal ilişki, "OL = 1,737 + 0,129 × PAL (" "r" ^"2 " "= 0,88)" ve OB–PAL arasındaki doğrusal ilişki ise O"B = 2,212 + 0,060 × PAL " ("r" ^"2 " "= 0,81" ) olarak bulunmuştur. OW–PAL ve OW–OL arasındaki üstel bağıntılar, "OW = 0,00004 × " 〖"PAL" 〗^"1,899" " (" "r" ^"2" " = 0,87") ve "OW = 0,0004 × " 〖"OL" 〗^"2,428" " (" "r" ^"2" " = 0,93)" olarak belirlenmiştir.

The Relationship Between Otolith Biometry and Pre-anal Length of Coelorinchus caelorhincus (Pisces: Macrouridae) from Antalya Bay

In this study, the relationships between otolith biometrics and pre-anal length (PAL) of the hollowsnout grenadier Coelorinchus caelorhincus (Risso, 1810) were investigated. The fish samples were obtained from monthly trawl surveys conducted with the "R/V Akdeniz Araştırma 1" in Antalya Bay between July 2016 and June 2017. PAL and total weight (W) were in the range of 18–73 mm and 0.6–72 g, respectively, in a total of 384 specimens, including 232 females and 152 males. The PAL–W relationship did not differ between sexes and was determined as "W = 0.208 × " 〖"PAL" 〗^"2.937" " (" "r" ^"2" "= 0.94)" for all fish. The 95% confidence interval for the exponential coefficient "b" (2.863-3.011) included the hypothetical value of 3, indicating that C. caelorhincus showed isometric growth in this habitat. Otolith length (OL), otolith breadth (OB), and otolith weight (OW) were in the range of 3.717–11.353 mm, 2.717–6.606 mm, and 0.008–0.0186 g, respectively. Since there were no statistically significant differences between the means of right and left OL, OB, and OW, according to the paired t–test, only measurements of the right otoliths were used in the examination of the relationships between PAL and otolith biometry. The linear relationship between OL–PAL was found to be "OL = 1.737 + 0.129 × PAL (" "r" ^"2 " "= 0.88)" and the linear relationship between OB–PAL was O"B = 2.212 + 0.060 × PAL " ("r" ^"2 " "= 0.81" ). The exponential relationships between OW–PAL, and OW–OL were determined to be "OW = 0.00004 × " 〖"PAL" 〗^"1.899" " (" "r" ^"2" " = 0.87") and "OW = 0.0004 × " 〖"OL" 〗^"2.428" "(" "r" ^"2" "= 0.93)" , respectively.
