Ethical Rules

Aydın Adnan Menderes University, one of Turkey’s respected Veterinary Faculties, has adopted the principles of compliance with ethical rules, transparency, confidentiality, and accountability in its published research's national and international dissemination process.
We expect all authors and reviewers to read and understand our ethics policy before submitting and evaluating an article. With our ethical policy, we aim to make recommendations to authors, reviewers, and editors.
Animal Health Production and Hygiene journal follow the European Code of Conduct for Integrity in Research(https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/ref/h2020/other/hi/h2020-ethics_code-of-conduct_en.pdf) (1).
Peer-reviewed articles are studies that require scientific methods and provide objectivity. All components of the publication process (publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers) must comply with ethical rules for scientific production. In this context, the ‘publication ethics’ and ‘open access policies are also the “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guide for Journal Editors” and the “COPE Best Practice Guide for Journal Editors”. Authors are expected to meet the criteria recommended by McNutt et al. (2018) (2). The editorial and publication processes of the journal are governed by the regulation of the Council of Higher Education (Turkey) (3).
The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, and short papers on all aspects of veterinary science that have not been published in whole or elsewhere. All articles are checked with a plagiarism checker (iThenticate); after filtering the references, those below 25% are evaluated by the referee. All authors must sign the article copyright release form. Animal Health Production and Hygiene uses a double-blind peer-review procedure in which both the referee’s and author’s identities are hidden throughout the process. Authors approve to submit their articles under the double-blind peer-review policy. Authors are responsible for the articles published in the journal.
Any material or product used in the study should not contain trade mark names.

Editors’ responsibilities

Animal health Production and Hygiene Journal editors must comply with the guidelines of the “COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and “Best Practice Guidelines for COPE Journal Editors” published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In addition, they should make improvement studies for the needs of readers and research writers. They should work for the continuous development of the journal and work to improve the quality of published studies.

Authors’ Responsibilities

The works submitted by the authors must be original. If other studies are used, they should be cited fully and accurately. Persons who do not contribute intellectually to the content in the creation of the work should not be specified as authors.
If some situations and relationships may create a conflict of interest in the submitted work, they should be disclosed.
Raw data for the articles can be requested from the authors within the framework of the evaluation processes, in which case the authors should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and the scientific editorial board. Furthermore, authors must inform the journal’s editor or the publisher and cooperate with the editor for correction or editing if they notice an error or inaccuracy regarding the publication, early review, or evaluation phase.
Authors cannot simultaneously submit their work to more than one journal’s evaluation process.
The authors should identify if the work contains extraordinary hazardous chemicals, procedures, or unusual equipment. If the study involves using animals or human participants, the authors should ensure that all procedures are performed according to applicable laws and institutional guidelines, approved by the appropriate committees, and these statements must be noted in the article. The authors should also state that the article obtained informed consent to conduct experiments with human participants. The privacy rights of human participants must always be respected.

Animal Experimentation

Unnecessary suffering in animal experimentation is unacceptable to the Editors of Animal Health, Production and Hygiene. Therefore, if animal material has been used in the submitted studies, a certificate of approval must be obtained from the “Animal Experiments Local Ethics Committee”. In studies that require an ethics committee decision, the Ethics Committee Approval Certificate must be uploaded to the system at the application stage. For research conducted in other fields, approval documents from the relevant ethics committees should be uploaded at the time of application. Studies without ethics committee approval will not be evaluated. In addition, information on “Ethics Committee Approval” (name, date, number, and number of the Board) and information on “Local Ethics Committee approval has been obtained, and ethics committee principles have been complied with” must be included in the relevant section in the material and methods, or on the title page.
In the case reports, a written and signed “patient owner consent document” should be uploaded at the time of application.

Referees’ Responsibilities

Peer review helps editors make decisions and can help authors improve their articles. If the researcher invited as a referee thinks that he/she is not competent about the subject of the article, he/she should quickly inform the editors and reject the task.
Documents received for review should be treated as confidential documents, and their content should not be used or shared under any circumstances. This rule also applies to referees who decline an invitation to review.
Reviewers should report to the journal’s editor if they become aware of the author’s copyright infringement and plagiarism.
Reviews should be done and explained objectively so that authors can use this information to correct and improve the article.

Publishers’ Responsibilities

In cases of alleged scientific misconduct, fraudulent publication, or plagiarism, the publisher will take all necessary measures to clarify the situation and modify the article in question in close cooperation with the editors.
The publisher is committed to the permanent availability and preservation of scientific research and ensures accessibility by partnering with organizations and maintaining our digital archive.

Readers’ Responsibilities

Journal readers should avoid violating the copyright of scientific articles. They must not share or publish the full-text files of the articles on social media or any other online platform without the publisher’s permission.
