Assoc. Prof. Dr. Netice Yıldız is a graduate of Istanbul University where she gained degrees in English Literature and Language (B.A) and History of Art (Ph.D.). She has been working at Eastern Mediterranean University since October 1987. She had a rather active academic life as a lecturer as well as a staff involved with many cultural activities besides teaching, research, publication and journal editorial. In addition to her teaching History of Art topics, her favourite course is the History and Culture of Cyprus, which is currently thought on on-line platform. She is an Art Historian doing research on British Ottoman Artistic Exchanges (1583-1914) and the History of Art and Architecture of Cyprus. She worked for the establishment of the Department of Humanities which is now part of the English Literature program, first as the coordinator (1987-1992) and then another three years as the chair (1992-1995). She worked for the opening of the program of Archaeology and Art History in the Faculty of Arts (1987-1999) where she did administrative work for a year as the acting chair (1998-1999). Currently, she is working in the Faculty of Architecture. She was also involved with the establishment of a couple of research centres, mainly the Center for Cypriot Studies and the Center for Woman Studies. She initiated the publication of KADIN/WOMAN 2000 as the editor-in-chief, which is a refereed journal and indexed and abstracted by several international databases. She is the representative of Cyprus in the standing International Committee of the International Congress of Turkish Arts since 1991. Yıldız was awarded the research grant of The Barakat Foundation in the care of Oriental Research Center, Oxford University in 2000. She published several articles and proceedings on her research topics in the areas of British- Ottoman relations and Cyprus Art History. She has organised several exhibitions and cultural activities at EMU.
