Emrah Konuralp was born in Trabzon in 1984. He is an accomplished Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Iğdır University, Turkey. He completed his bachelor's, master's, and PhD degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. METU is one of the top universities in Turkey whose medium of instruction is English.
Throughout his career, Emrah Konuralp has held significant academic positions that underscore his expertise and leadership in the field. He has served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Iğdır University and as a Member of the Faculty in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University in Istanbul, Turkey. He is currently working at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin as a postdoctoral researcher in Germany.
Emrah Konuralp's research interests include identity politics, multiculturalism, nationalism, post-secularism, and the healthcare system in Turkey. He has a broad range of knowledge in gender politics, theories of nationalism and ethnicity, secularization, comparative politics, Turkish politics, and the political economy of health. Emrah Konuralp has supervised numerous master's theses and Ph.D. dissertations, covering emerging topics such as violence against women, nationalism in the Balkans, ethnic conflicts, the Cyprus issue, the Libyan conflict, humanitarian intervention, youth participation and representation in politics, the repressive state apparatus of the Pahlavi regime in Iran, and the role of environmental issues in voting preferences of the youth.
Apart from being an outstanding researcher, Emrah Konuralp is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of "Lectio Socialis," a journal in the field of social sciences that is continuously published. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the "Iğdır University Journal of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences" since 2022.
