Wood Industry and Engineering is an international journal and publishes original articles, reviews, technical notes, short communication and extended conference papers on basic and applied research dealing with the science, technology, and engineering of wood, wood components, wood and wood-based products, wood constructions, wood composites, wood chemistry, nanotechnology applications in wood science, adhesives and bioresins, biomaterials, sustainable utilization of forest products, physiomechanical properties of wood and wood-based materials, furniture design and manufacturing, archaeological wooden structures, wood anatomy, forest products marketing and business management, operational research, and non-wood forest products. Articles concerned with pulp and paper, fiber resources from non-woody plants, wood-inhabiting insects and fungi, wood biomass, and environmental and ecological issues in forest products are also included. In addition to original articles, the journal publishes review articles and technical notes on selected topics concerning wood science and related fields. The editors welcome the submission of manuscripts from any country.

- Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable,

- Authors must ensure that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere,

- Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors,

- The corresponding author with the journal should ensure that all appropriate co-authors are included in the author list of the manuscript, and that there is a full consensus of all co-authors in approving the final version of the paper and its submission for publication,

- Authors should disclose financial or other conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support should be disclosed,

- When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editors and cooperate with them to retract or correct the manuscript.

It is expected that authors will submit carefully written and proofread material. Careful checking for spelling and grammatical errors should be performed. Keep your writing clear and concise, avoiding repetition or embellishment.

Papers should clearly describe the background of the subject, the authors work including the materials and methods used, results, discussion on the importance of the work and conclusions. Papers are to be prepared in English and SI units must be used. You are welcome to use common or standard abbreviations and technical terms; if your abbreviations and technical terms are non-standard, please include a definition the first time you use them.

The uniform appearance will assist the reader to read the paper. It is therefore suggested to authors to use the template to construct their papers. Please use A4 paper size with 25 mm margins left, right, top and bottom. Papers should use 10-point Cambria font. The styles available are bold, italic and underlined. It is recommended that text in figures should not smaller than 10-point font size.

All text paragraphs should be single spaced, with first line intended by 10 mm. Double spacing should only be used before and after headings and subheadings as shown in this example. Position and style of headings and subheadings should follow the template. No spaces should be placed between paragraphs. Header, footer and page number should not be set.

Figure captions and table headings should be sufficient to explain the figure or table without needing to refer to the text. Figures and tables not cited in the text should not be presented. The following is an example for Table 1.

Tables and figures should be placed close after their first reference in the text. All figures and tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals. Table headings should be centered above the tables. Figure captions should be centered below the figures as shown in Figure 1.

Each equation should be presented on a separate line from the text with a blank space above and below. Equations should be clear and expressions used should be explained in the text. The equations should be numbered consecutively at the outer right margin, as shown in Eqs. (1) - (2) below. Here is one example.

Manuscripts should include the following sections;

The title should be concise, informative and meaningful to the whole readership of the journal. It should include key terms, to help make it more discoverable when people search online. Please avoid the use of long systemic names and non-standard or obscure abbreviations, acronyms or symbols.

List all authors' full names, e-mails and institutions.

Your abstract should give readers a brief summary of your article. It should concisely describe the contents of your article, and include key terms (especially in the first two sentences, to increase search engine discoverability). It should be informative, accessible and not only indicate the general aims and scope of the article, but also state the methodology used, main results obtained and conclusions drawn. The abstract should be complete in itself; it should not contain undefined acronyms/abbreviations and no table numbers, figure numbers, references or equations should be referred to. It should not normally be more than 300 words. If you submit an article with an abstract longer than 300 words, we may rescind the manuscript and ask you to re-write it.

You will be asked to supply 4 - 8 keywords relevant to your work. If your article is accepted for publication, we will display these keywords on the published article, and they will be used to index your article, helping to make it more discoverable. When choosing keywords, think about the kinds of terms you would use when searching online for related articles.

This should be concise and describe the nature of the problem under investigation and its background. It should also set your work in the context of previous research, citing relevant references. Introductions should expand on highly specialized terms and abbreviations used in the article to make it accessible for readers.

This section should provide sufficient details of the experiment, simulation, statistical test or analysis carried out to generate the results such that the method can be repeated by another researcher and the results reproduced.

The results section should detail the main findings and outcomes of your study. You should use tables only to improve conciseness or where the information cannot be given satisfactorily in other ways such as histograms or graphs. Tables and figures should be numbered serially and referred to in the text by number.

This should discuss the significance of the results and compare them with previous work using relevant references.

This section should be used to highlight the novelty and significance of the work, and any plans for future relevant work.

Authors and co-authors are required to disclose any potential conflict(s) of interest when submitting an article (e.g. employment, consulting fees, research contracts, stock ownership, patent licences, honoraria, advisory affiliations, etc). This information should be included in an acknowledgments section at the end of the manuscript (before the references section). All sources of financial support for the project must also be disclosed in the acknowledgments section. The name of the funding agency and the grant number should be given, for example: This work was funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK, Project No: 123O123).

Disclosure Statement

Research articles require a disclosure statement. Review articles present an expert synthesis of evidence and may be treated as an authoritative work on a subject. Review articles therefore require a disclosure statement. 

Every accepted article must state the sources of financial support for the particular research it describes. For published articles, information on relevant potential conflicts of interest should be indicated.

Proper references must be included throughout the text and the list of references must be provided in this section. The references inserted in the text and the list of references must be done as follow:

Reference citations: Citations in the main body, appendices, tables and figures are to be made using the last name of the author (both authors when only two; first author plus et al. when more than two). Example: "... as previously shown (Jones et al., 1989)," or "... as shown by Jones et al. (1989)." For two or more papers published in the same year by the same author(s), add a, b, c, etc. to the year such as (1980a) or (1980b) and cite jointly as Jones et al. (1980a, b).

List of references: List all cited references (including citations in tables, figures and appendices) in alphabetical order according to the first-named author. The titles of papers, patents and books or monograph chapters and the initial and final page numbers are to be included.

Referencing websites: With the increasing availability of useful information that can be found on the internet, website references must also be reported. At the end of the reference list, make a separate section of websites and the date consulted. However, to avoid very long website addresses, these references should be referred as Web-1, Web-2, etc. For example, in body of the report: “… it was shown that the heat transfer coefficient of nanofluids increased by 40% (Web-1) …”. In the reference list, provide the list of websites with the numeral values used in the text.
