The impact of digital leadership and inclusive leadership on employees’ digital capabilities: A research on the banking sector

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of digital leadership that keeps up to date, always on the trail of innovation, and inclusive leadership that attaches importance to differences, is not afraid of making mistakes, and prioritizes the organizational climate on the digital capabilities of employees. The population of the research consists of 1830 bank personnel working in Balıkesir province and its districts. The sample of the research consists of 507 personnel selected from banks in Bandırma district and Balıkesir city center. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, normality test, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed with the data obtained. According to the multiple regression analysis results, it was determined that digital leadership and inclusive leadership have a significant and positive effect on the digital capabilities of employees. As a result of the multiple regression analysis, it was seen that the most effective leadership model on the digital capabilities of the employees in the banks in the sample was inclusive leadership; it was stated that digital leadership is at least as important as inclusive leadership for banks experiencing a rapid transformation in the age of digitalization and suggestions was given for its development.

Dijital liderlik ve kapsayıcı liderliğin çalışanların dijital yetenekleri üzerindeki etkisi: Bankacılık sektörü üzerine bir araştırma

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı güncelliği yakalayan, her zaman yeniliğin izinde olan dijital liderliğin ve farklılıklara önem veren, hata yapmaktan korkmayan, örgüt iklimini ön planda tutan kapsayıcı liderliğin çalışanların dijital yetenekleri üzerindeki etkisini belirlemektir. Araştırmanın evrenini Balıkesir ilinde ve ilçelerinde çalışan 1830 banka personeli oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini Bandırma ilçesinde ve Balıkesir il merkezinde bulunan bankalardan seçilen 507 personel oluşturmaktadır. Elde edilen verilerle, frekans analizi, güvenilirlik analizi, normallik testi, keşfedici faktör analizi, korelasyon analizi ve çoklu regresyon analizi yapılmıştır. Yapılan çoklu regresyon analizinin sonucuna göre dijital liderliğin ve kapsayıcı liderliğin çalışanların dijital yetenekleri üzerinde anlamlı ve olumlu etkiye sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Çoklu regresyon analizinin sonucunda örneklem dâhilindeki bankalarda çalışanların dijital yetenekleri üzerinde en etkili liderlik modelinin kapsayıcı liderlik olduğu görülmüş, dijital liderliğinde en az kapsayıcı liderlik kadar dijitalleşme çağında hızlı dönüşüm yaşayan bankalar için önem arz ettiği belirtilmiş ve gelişimi için öneriler verilmiştir.
