Hacettepe Journal of Mathematics and Statistics (HJMS) is an international, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original research. Please note that this journal only publishes manuscripts in English and there are no fees payable to submit or publish in this journal.
Your article must be within the scope of the journal and be of sufficient quality. If not, it will not be reviewed.
In order to submit your manuscript, please register and log in to the submission website (https://dergipark.org.tr/en/login).
Manuscripts will be typeset using the LATEX typesetting system. You may choose to submit your manuscript as a PDF version generated from the TeX file for the refereeing process.
In addition to the manuscript of yours in pdf format, you will also be required to upload the “Copyright Release Form” (https://dergipark.org.tr/en/journal/380/file/1793/download - Please, download this file, fill in the blanks accordingly and sign it. Scan and upload the document to DergiPark system.) and “ORCID numbers” (https://orcid.org/) of each author of the paper.
The journal takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. Therefore, in the review process, papers that do not have appropriate form and have high rate of similarity to other sources detected by the Ithenticate program (https://www.ithenticate.com/) will be rejected immediately by the editor.
NOTE: For both cases, please ignore the error "Package pdftex.def Error: File `h-eps-converted-to.pdf' not found: using draft setting." and "File `h.eps' not found." warning. Official Hacettepe University logo will be added later on by production editors of the journal.
Following the acceptance of a manuscript for publication, authors are required to ensure that their work is fully formatted in accordance with the HJMS Template, which is provided above. Therefore, authors must submit the class file of HJMS template, the tex file of the manuscript alongside all associated figure/table files. Manuscripts that are not prepared in the appropriate format that is described in this page will not be published in the journal.
Peer-Review Policy
The journal is committed to peer-review integrity and upholding the highest standards of review. The editorial board of HJMS would like to take this opportunity of publicly thanking our past, present and future reviewers, for giving us their valuable time and for their vital contribution to the success of this journal.
The submitting author, who is generally the corresponding author, is responsible for the manuscript during the submission and peer review process. The submitting author must ensure that all eligible co-authors have been included in the author list.
Your manuscript will first undergo an initial evaluation by a member of the editorial board. The corresponding author of the paper rejected at this stage will be informed as soon as the decision received. If it does not conform to the requirements laid out in these guidelines, it will be returned to you for amendments prior to peer review.
After passing the initial evaluation, your manuscript will then be peer-reviewed. You can log in at any time to check the status of your manuscript. We will notify you as soon as possible, when a decision has been reached.
The editor may seek the advice of up to four reviewers among the experts in the field of specialization of the paper. Please also note that this journal operates a single blind review process. The reviewing process is conducted in strict confidence and the identity of a reviewer is not disclosed to any of the authors at any point in time.
At submission, the authors have to provide a suggestion for Area Editor (in the “note to editor”) and four potential reviewers with their full names and email addresses in the system. The list for the reviewer should be a globally geographically diverse list of potential reviewers. Please note that the suggested reviewers must not be former co-authors, instructors, co-workers, advisors, students, etc. There must be no conflict of interest between the authors and the potential reviewers suggested by the authors. The editorial office may not use these suggestions, but this may help to accelerate the process.
Reviewers are asked to comment on the originality and scientific correctness of the work, and to note deviations from appropriate ethical guidelines, lack of references to the available literature, etc. A reviewer may recommend acceptance, perhaps following minor corrections; acceptance conditional on the successful completion of a more extensive revision; re-evaluation following a major revision that may involve extensions to the original manuscript; or rejection. The time taken by the reviewing process will vary, depending on such factors as the availability of appropriate reviewers, the number and nature of any requested revisions, etc., but every effort is made to complete this process as quickly as possible.
At the completion of the reviewing process the editor makes the final decision to accept or reject the article. This decision is communicated to the corresponding author, together with the comments and suggestions of the reviewers.
Limitations
The authors must notice that only two submissions per author per year will be considered. Once a paper is under review or has been accepted for publication, all co-authors need to wait 6 months from the submission date before submitting another paper to HJMS.
The following rules should be followed when preparing manuscripts for submission to HJMS.
The 2020 AMS Mathematics Subject Classification numbers must be included in the manuscript to categorize the content appropriately. classification codes must be separated by commas (https://mathscinet.ams.org/mathscinet/msc/msc2020.html)
Abbreviations
Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.
Guidelines for Figures and Tables
• Figures (with minimum resolution of 300 dpi) and tables should be incorporated into the text.
• Tables and figures must be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals.
• For each table and figure, please supply a table/figure caption (title) explaining the components of the table/figure.
• Table captions should appear above the table, while figure captions should be placed below the figure.
• The terms “Table x.” and “Figure x.” must be written in bold.
• Table/Figure captions must not be written in bold and should end with a period. For example:
o "Table 1. Comparison of two-point estimations for some value of the parameters."
o "Figure 3. Sampling distribution."
• Figures, images, artwork, diagrams and other graphical media must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript.
• Please cite all tables and figures in the manuscript text.
• Acknowledgements
Provide details regarding any assistance received during the research or manuscript preparation process. NOTE that this section is required for manuscripts submitted to both "Mathematics" and "Statistics" sections of the journal.
• Author Contributions
Clearly specify the contributions of each author to the work presented in the manuscript. NOTE that this section is required for manuscripts submitted to "Statistics" section of the journal.
• Conflict of Interest
