INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITERS
Journal of Security Sciences is an interdisciplinary peer-reviewed journal published twice a year (May and November). Journal of Security Sciences is an open access, national peer-reviewed journal whose publication principles are based on the principles of independent, unbiased and double-blind refereeing.
In addition to Turkish articles, articles in English are also accepted in the Journal of Security Sciences. Within the scope of Social, Humanities and Administrative Sciences, in addition to articles in the fields of security and strategy; International Relations, Political Science, Economic and Administrative Sciences, History, Criminal Studies, Law, International Relations, Public Relations, Forensic Sciences, Communication, Psychology, Criminology, Anthropology, Sociology, Public Diplomacy, Intelligence, Public Administration, Criminalistics, Management and Organisation, Quantitative Methods are also evaluated by the editorial board.
The Editorial Board of the Journal of Security Sciences has set the similarity rate of the submitted works as maximum 20%. Studies submitted to the journal are examined for similarity in the first stage. If the similarity rate of a work exceeds 20%, this may cause the work to be either sent back to the author for correction or rejected. Programmes such as ‘Turnitin’ or ‘iThenticate’ are preferred for these evaluations. References and quotations in quotation marks are not taken into account in the calculations. Authors are expected to ensure the originality of their papers and, if they have cited the work of others, to give proper attribution.
In the case of original research articles derived from master's or doctoral studies, authors should make this clear in the acknowledgements and information section of the article. The scientific content of each article in the journal is the sole responsibility of the author or authors.
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to the refereeing process of more than one journal at the same time. Authors are also responsible for the authenticity and verification of sources. Plagiarism, no matter how it is done, constitutes unethical behaviour and is unacceptable.
The author reserves the right to withdraw the manuscript until the publication decision is taken, provided that the editorial board of the journal is notified. The intellectual, scientific and legal responsibility for the language, style, content and ethics of all published articles, even if translated, belongs to the authors who wrote and translated the work.
All obligations regarding the scientific content of the studies to be included in the journal belong to the authors. Studies are accepted in ‘Microsoft Word’ format only via https://dergipark.org.tr and the author is required to send ‘Curriculum Vitae’, ‘Declaration of No Need for Ethics Committee Permission’ and ‘Copyright Agreement Form’ documents along with the study. However, ethics committee permission is required for all kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using survey, interview, focus group study, observation, experiment, interview techniques, the use of humans and animals (including materials/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes, and retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data. Information about the permission of such studies requiring ethics committee permission should be included in the article. The names, affiliations, e-mail addresses and ORCID information of all authors should be entered into the Dergipark system, and if the study requires ethics committee approval, the relevant ethics committee approval should be uploaded to the Dergipark system together with the article. After the article is uploaded to the Dergipark system, authors cannot be added and the author ranking cannot be changed.
Studies submitted to the Journal of Security Sciences are subjected to initial evaluation by the Editor-in-Chief within the framework of publication policies. The Editor-in-Chief has the authority to send back the manuscripts that he/she thinks do not comply with the publication standards of the journal to the authors without directing them to the referee evaluation. Articles that do not comply with the spelling rules or are found deficient in terms of language are returned to the authors for correction. Authors are advised to have a language revision done by a language expert before submitting manuscripts in English.
For articles with more than one author, the corresponding author will be contacted for all correspondence. Manuscripts that need to be revised as a result of peer review are electronically sent to the authors via the Dergipark system and it is the responsibility of the corresponding author to follow up. Corrections given by the referees (major revision within 15 days, minor revision within 10 days) must be made and uploaded again by the corresponding author via the Dergipark system. Manuscripts that are not uploaded to the Dergipark system by the corresponding author without an excuse can be rejected directly by the Editor-in-Chief.
Manuscripts that fulfil the criteria for eligibility for publication and peer review must be submitted to at least two referees for evaluation.
