Plagiarism is the unethical act of copying someone else’s prior ideas, processes, results or words without explicit acknowledgement of the original author and source. Self-plagiarism occurs when an author utilizes a large part of his/her own previously published work without using appropriate references. This can range from getting the same manuscript published in multiple journals to modifying a previously published manuscript with some new data.

Journal of Metaverse promised that it will take very serious importance with the editorial board that he will act meticulously about plagiarism.

The journal is strictly against any unethical act of copying or plagiarism in any form. Plagiarism is said to have occurred when large portions of a manuscript have been copied from existing previously published resources.

Journal of Metaverse meticulously requests and checks plagiarism reports from authors for their article submissions. Papers found to be plagiarized during the initial stages of review are out-rightly removed and not considered for publication in the journal. In case a manuscript is found to be plagiarized after publication, the Editor-in-Chief will conduct a preliminary investigation, maybe with the help of a suitable committee constituted for the purpose. Articles submitted to Journal of Metaverse are subjected to similarity checks using internationally recognized plagiarism detection programs such as Ithenticate, Turnitin, intihal.net etc. The rules adopted in determining the similarity rate are as follows:

The articles sent to the Journal of Metaverse are checked for similarity by the Editorial Board using plagiarism detection programs before publication. During the submission of the articles to the system, the author uploads the plagiarism report generated by any of the plagiarism programs (IThenticate, Turnitin, Intihal.Net). After the reviewing process is completed, the plagiarism program report is generated by the field editors (after the language control) on the last version.

(a) The general similarity rate of the article must be 20% or less. At this stage, articles with a general similarity rate of more than 20% are returned to the author without entering the reviewing process.
(b) In the status that the similarity report result is 20-22% due to the footer and header information and tag sections, in order to reduce the rate below 20%, the tag can be reduced to the required rate by removing the header and footer parts and it is rechecked again. In legal matters, this rate is 25% in total, limited to the articles on which the legislation is examined and researched, and 2% for each citation is our upper limit.
(c) The similarity rate to a particular source must be less than 2% in the general similarity rate of the article.
(d) Bibliographic materials (bibliography, citations, etc.) are not included in the similarity check.
(e) Editors can check the similarity during-after the reviewing process at each time of the publication process.
(f) The above-mentioned rules are assumed to be accepted by all authors applying for articles.
(g) If the Editor-in-Chief or field editors do not find the similarity report received from the system (intihal.net) or uploaded by the author appropriate, they may request a new report from the authors or create a report themselves.
