Publication Ethics
Articles published in our journal require compliance with nationally and internationally valid ethical rules and research and publication ethics. So, the "International Standards for Editors and Authors" of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) and the suggestions made by the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) should be used as guides for researchers sending their work to our journal. This includes authors, reviewers, and editors in charge of the process. The following is a list of principles that authors, reviewers, and editors must adhere to:
Scientific Research Ethics
We use scientific methods to obtain data, analyze, interpret, and reach the results. We cannot present unscientific results as research outcomes.
While conducting the research, it is necessary to adhere to national and international agreements and to obtain permission from the competent authorities.
Use the data from the studies to the extent and in the manner that the authorities permit. It is essential that the data that should not be submitted remain confidential.
Researchers must inform the relevant individuals and institutions of any adverse situations that may arise from their research. Every researcher has the right not to participate in the research due to these adverse situations that may occur.
Authors
The author must ensure that the submitted article qualifies to contribute to academic fields.
Articles must be original and based on research.
Although the plagiarism analysis will be done by the journal, the author(s) of the study are entirely responsible for the negativities and sanctions that may occur as a result of plagiarism. Plagiarism control for the studies to be published in the journal is carried out through the iThenticate package program, and the similarity rate should not exceed 20%.
The article shouldn't be submitted to multiple journals at once or previously.
Ensure that other authors whose names appear in the article contribute to the research. It is against the ethics of science to show people who have no academic contribution as additional authors or to rank authors with non-scientific criteria such as title, age, and gender regardless of the order of contribution.
It is assumed that authors who submit articles to the journal have read and accepted its publication and writing principles and committed to their expectations.
Citations and references should be complete.
The Higher Education Council also specifies the Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive, which authors should adhere to. In this regard, the authors should inform the journal editor of the ethical permission reports they have received for their studies and include them in the study's content.
During the evaluation phase, the authors should submit the research's raw data in line with the reviewers' requests. Additionally, the journal's editor may request the raw data after the article's publication.
The study must explicitly state whether the authors have previously presented their work at any scientific meeting, congress, or symposium.
For multi-author studies, there must be a corresponding author who will contact the journal editor throughout the entire process of working. The corresponding author is considered to represent other authors in this process.
The scientific and legal responsibility of the published articles belongs to the authors. Turk-Jes is the publication organ of Fırat University, Institute of Educational Sciences. All copyrights of the published articles belong to Fırat University, and they cannot be partially or completely printed, reproduced, or transferred to the electronic environment without the permission of the publisher.
Reviewers
Reviewers should be impartial while evaluating the studies and should not have a conflict of interest with the authors.
Reviewers should recognize that they are the main determinants of the academic quality of the journal article and evaluate for academic improvement.
The reviewers should indicate, if any, published works related to the work but not cited.
Reviewers should only accept peer review of articles that they have the expertise to make an appropriate review of, can respect blind review confidentiality, and keep the details of the article confidential in any way.
Following the article review process, refrain from sharing any information about the reviewed article with others.
Reviewers should only evaluate the accuracy of the content of the articles and their compliance with academic criteria. The fact that the opinions expressed in the article differ from those of the reviewer should not affect the evaluation.
Reviewer reports should be objective and measured. Avoid making insulting, derogatory, and accusatory statements.
Reviewers should avoid superficial and ambiguous statements in evaluation reports. Evaluations with negative results should clearly demonstrate the missing and flawed points that underlie the result.
Reviewers should evaluate the articles within the time given to them. If they are not going to make an assessment, they should notify the journal within a reasonable time.
Editors
Editors should accept articles that contribute to the relevant fields specified in the journal policy as part of the evaluation process.
Editors should not have any conflict of interest/relationship with accepted or rejected articles.
Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article.
Editors must support the publication or retraction of the correction when errors are found.
It is the editors' responsibility to keep the names of reviewers and authors mutually confidential.
Editors should make the necessary effort to screen articles submitted for publication for plagiarism and thus to prevent academic dishonor.
It is the editors' duty to complete the pre-examination, review, editing, and publishing processes of the articles submitted to the journal in a timely and healthy manner.
Editors should review academic concerns and criteria when accepting articles to the journal.
