Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business complies with the ethical publishing principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (
COPE). In addition, Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business accepts and applies the publication principles set by
TÜBİTAK ULAKBIM and
Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directives of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
The author(s) who submit their study to Dokuz Eylül University Journal of Faculty of Business are obliged to comply with ethical rules and are deemed to have declared that they have not committed any ethical violations. After the manuscripts are submitted to the Journal, none of the authors’ names can be deleted from the author list, a new name cannot be added as an author, and the order of authors cannot be changed without the written permission of all other authors. Plagiarism, duplication, false authorship/denied authorship, research/data fabrication, article slicing, slicing and dicing, copyright infringement and concealment of conflict of interest are considered as unethical behaviors. Studies containing ethical violations will be rejected without proceeding to the evaluation process and other applications of the author(s) will not be evaluated. If an ethical violation is detected, a report on the subject will be sent to the author and, if deemed necessary, to the relevant institutions.
Article 4 - (1) Actions against scientific research and publication ethics are as follows:
a) Plagiarism: Presenting the original ideas, methods, data or works of others as one’s own work in whole or in part without citation in accordance with scientific rules,
b) Forgery: Using non-existent or falsified data in scientific research,
c) Distortion: Falsifying research records or data obtained, falsifying devices or materials not used in the research, falsifying or shaping the results of the research in line with the interests of the persons and organizations receiving support,
d) Republishing: Presenting duplicate publications as separate publications for academic appointments and promotions,
e) Slicing: Dividing the results of a research into parts in a way that disrupts the integrity of the research and inappropriately and publishing them in more than one number and presenting these publications as separate publications in academic appointments and promotions,
f) Unfair authorship: Including or excluding people who have not made active contributions, changing the order of authors in an unjustified and inappropriate manner, removing the names of active contributors from the work in subsequent editions, using one's influence to have one’s name included among the authors even though one has not made active contributions,
(2) Other types of ethical violations are as follows:
a) Not specifying the persons, institutions or organizations that provide support and their contributions in the publications made as a result of the research conducted with support,
b) Using theses or studies that have not yet been submitted or defended and accepted as a source without the permission of the owner,
c) Failure to comply with ethical rules in research on humans and animals, and failure to respect patient rights in publications,
d) Sharing the information contained in a work that he/she has been assigned to examine with others before publication without the express permission of the author,
e) To misuse the resources, spaces, facilities and devices provided or allocated for scientific research,
f) Making baseless, unwarranted and intentional allegations of ethical violations,
g) Publishing data obtained in surveys and attitude surveys conducted within the scope of a scientific study without obtaining the explicit consent of the participants or, if the research is to be conducted in an institution, without obtaining the permission of the institution,
Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Author(s)
The ethical responsibilities of the author(s) include the following items:
(a) To ensure that the submitted manuscript has not been published or accepted elsewhere.
(b) If the content submitted matches the published or submitted content, acknowledging and citing this overlap, providing the editor with a copy of any work that may have similar content related to his/her work if necessary, obtaining permission to reproduce or use any content from other sources, and citing citations.
(c) Ensure the accuracy of the data associated with the study, keep organized records of his/her research, and provide access to such data upon request.
(d) In case of any conflict of interest, to share with the editor and publisher any ethical violations related to the manuscript, to publish a statement of error, addendum, compensation notice, or to withdraw the manuscript when deemed necessary.
(e) To ensure that the submitted manuscript is appropriate to the purpose and scope of the journal.
Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
The ethical responsibilities of editors include the following items:
(a) To act in a balanced, objective and fair manner in the performance of their duties without discrimination on the basis of gender, religion, political beliefs, ethnic or geographical origin of the authors.
(b) To evaluate the manuscripts submitted to the journal according to their content and not to show privilege to any author.
(c) To take necessary precautions to avoid potential conflicts of interest and to evaluate existing disclosures, if any.
(d) To treat sponsored studies or studies on special topics in the same way as other studies.
(e) Adhering to the journal’s policies and procedures in the event of a complaint of ethical violation. To give the authors an opportunity to respond to the complaint and not hesitate to impose the necessary sanctions, regardless of the author of the manuscript.
(f) Rejecting incoming manuscripts if they are not in line with the journal's purpose and scope.
Ethical Duties and Responsibilities of Referees
The ethical responsibilities of reviewers include the following items:
(a) To review the manuscript objectively in a timely manner in order to contribute to the editor’s decision-making process, and to agree to review only manuscripts related to their area of expertise.
(b) To evaluate objectively only in relation to the content of the manuscript. To evaluate the work without religious, political and economic interests.
(c) Provide guidance to help improve the quality of the article to be published and scrutinize the work meticulously. To communicate comments to the author(s) in a constructive and courteous manner.
(d) To protect the confidentiality of the information provided by the editor and the author(s), to destroy the manuscript after the evaluation process in accordance with the principle of confidentiality, to notify the editor if there is a violation of blind reviewing and not to evaluate the manuscript.
(e) To be aware of potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative, or other relationships between the author and the author) and, if necessary, to warn the editor to withdraw their assistance for the relevant article.
